Why is it that you’re in the supermarket and you see the Scotch fillet steak grab six, knowing that they are not for your hubby but your beloved pooch?
You know you only buy the best food to feed your dog. In fact, you know for certain that your dog eats much better than you do! But even with the most expensive quality dry food on the market and placing it in your dog’s designer dog bowl, she still turns her nose up at it like it’s been rotting away in the heat and then left out overnight only to then be run over by a truck, and you’re perplexed.
On the back of the label the ingredient list reads as if its full of nutritious, delicious things. If it didn’t come in bullet sized pieces, I would eat it myself! Still, even though you’ve tried a number of different high-quality foods, don’t stop there, on the market there are many different types of foods and my advice is to source out as many trial size bags and samples as you can many pet stores have them you only need to ask at the counter. I have been told by many vets that dogs can go for up to a week without food so by standing your ground you can achieve anything they will cave in at some point.
I feed my dog a range of foods i.e., raw steak, cooked chicken drumsticks prepared in the pressure cooker [no bones of course] with grated carrot and she gets whatever we eat of vegetables and meat. She gets a treat after she has eaten [it’s what works for her] so you can use this as a way of winning the war if you want too but there is know right or wrong way, every dog is different and so is every owner just do the best you can with what you’ve got. Pet food can be very expensive and, on every budget, there is a big range to choose from. Just remember to do right by your pet as you would yourself!
